Winterizing Your Travel Trailer

When your travel trailer isn’t being used during the winter season, there are a handful of things you should do to keep it in good condition! Covering Your Travel Trailer

One of the most important things you can do to protect your travel trailer in the winter months is keep it covered. Not everyone has a place where they can park their trailer inside or underneath a shelter, so instead you’ll want to get a tarp or full-sized cover to keep your RV safe. 

You can shop for covers that are specifically designed for your specific model. These options will have the exact dimensions and will usually have elastic or other features to secure the cover. If you don’t want a cover, you can invest in a large tarp and use straps or bungee cords to secure it in place. 

Caring for Slideouts and Openings

Not all travel trailers have slideouts, but all travel trailers have doors and windows. Before you lock up your trailer for the season, it’s very important to check all seals and openings for signs of cracks or missing sealant. You may want to repair or replace any seals or add an extra layer to help reduce the risk of leaks. 

If you do have slideouts, make sure to grease the moving parts and put them in for the season.
