Are you on the hunt for an RV but finding yourself disheartened by some of the price tags?  It’s true; a lot of new RVs cost a pretty penny.  If you would like to save some of your pennies, buying a pre-owned RV may be the better option.  Chances are, you can find an older, pre-owned RV and transform it into the RV you’ve been dreaming of—for a fraction of the price of a new unit.  If you’ve ever considered buying used and renovating—or even if the idea never crossed your mind until now—we have some tips for getting the most bang for your buck!

Give life to that tired, old RV furniture.

Dingy seat cushions, tacky floral upholstery, dips in the couch from years of use. Sometimes, the furniture in used RVs is a little too used. You can always opt to replace them completely, buy if the damage isn’t too bad, you may want to consider jazzing up the old stuff.  Re-upholster, re-paint or varnish, or just give it a good scrub down.  Voila!  Good as new.

Brighten up the walls with a fresh coat of paint.

Painting the interior of an RV isn’t expensive.  You might want to strip the wallpaper off first if there is any mildew or peeling, but if it’s in good shape, you can paint right over it!  A fresh coat of paint could be the difference between a dark, outdated RV and a stylish, inviting space.

Modernize with new flooring.

Not a fan of that stained carpet or yellowing linoleum? Replacing old flooring is a great way to make that old RV look new again—and it doesn’t have to drain your bank account!  Vinyl flooring is a cost-effective option you can install yourself.

Spruce up the kitchen.

Adhesive faux marble is a quick and inexpensive way to modernize the counter tops in that old RV.  Adding a backsplash with peel-and-stick tiles is also a simple way to bring style to your RV kitchen.  And don’t forget to add a fresh coat of paint to the cabinets!

The finishing touch: linens and décor!

Brighten it up or bring warmth to a cold room with new linens and throw pillows.  If you’re handy with a sewing needle, this is a great opportunity to get creative and save some money.  If you’re going to be parked for a while, hang paintings on the wall and set some potted plants out.  Add hooks to the walls to hang coats and hats and prevent clutter.  Hang up some warm string lights.  It only takes a few creative touches to make that RV a home.
