This Christmas season, get out of town and experience what the U.S. has to offer in winter wonderlands.  The beauty of having an RV is the freedom to pick up and go where you want without the hassle and expense of flying.  During the holidays, airfare is especially pricey, but in your RV you can go on a Christmastime adventure without cutting other Christmas costs.  If you’re looking for a magical destination to visit this Christmas, we have some ideas for you!

Grand Canyon

Every year, tourists from all over the globe flock to visit this gorgeous geological wonder.  The winter may not be the most popular time of year for tourists at the Grand Canyon, but the views are no less spectacular.  Visit the Grand Canyon in December for a quiet, snow-covered Grand Canyon experience.  And be sure to take the family on a journey to meet Santa via the Grand Canyon Railway’s Polar Express—complete with hot chocolate and magic sleigh bells.

Stone Mountain

Stone Mountain, Georgia is famous for the memorial of three Confederate figures carved into the side of a mountain—the largest high relief sculpture in the world!  But Stone Mountain also features the winter wonderland of amusement parks.  Located just outside of Atlanta, GA, Stone Mountain Park is an enchanting place to visit during Christmas time.  Experience the wonder of this magical destination illuminated by 2 million Christmas lights.  Take the family snow-tubing, meet your favorite holiday heroes (like Rudolph!), and experience the Polar Express in 4-D!

Christmas Town USA

Most of the year, this town is known as McAdenville, North Carolina, but during the holiday season, it transforms into Christmas Town USA.  This tiny town of around 700 residents brims with Christmas spirit this time of year.  From December 1st to December 26th, you can drive or stroll through this cheery little town beaming with dazzling displays of Christmas lights on nearly every house.

Asheville, North Carolina

While you’re in North Carolina, be sure to spend some time in this quaint little city nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Between the artsy downtown area and the elegant Biltmore Mansion, a visit to Asheville will provide you with no shortage of opportunities to see a beautiful Christmas light display.

Fredericksburg, Texas

We may be biased, but we think Texas is one of the best places to be this time of year.  There’s no better place than Frederickburg to experience the culture of an old timey German Christmas with a twist of Texas charm.  Make your way to Fredericksburg to shop in the Christmas Marktplatz, stroll down decked-out Main Street, watch the Light the Night Christmas Parade, and do all the things you’d normally do in Fredericksburg—like wine tasting and bratwurst feasting!

Start a new tradition this holiday season.  With that travel trailer or fifth wheel in tow, a Christmastime adventure is never out of reach.

Howdy Ranch RV is located on the I-37 access in Mathis, exit #34. Driving distance from Corpus Christi, San Antonio, McAllen, Laredo, & Victoria.
